Crushed Gooseberry /nellikka kuthichathachathu/ നെല്ലിക്ക ചതച്ചത്/നെല്ലിക്ക ചമ്മന്തി

Gooseberry is a with nutritional benefits. It is beneficial for Diabetic patients as it helps to reduce the high blood sugar level. I recommend you to take gooseberry/nellikka daily in your food. You could consume it in different tastes such as crushed gooseberry, pickle, nellikka curry, jam etc. My mother used to make a simple nellikka chutney without coconut daily. I will share that later. INGREDIENTS

Nellikka- 5 Nos
Shallots/Kunjulli- 7
Kanthari /green chilly, vattam mulaku-a few, as required
Salt- to taste
Coconut oil- as required

HOW TO PREPARE

Remove the seeds of gooseberry ,set aside. In a mixy/motor and pestle/ammikkallu crush these gooseberry pieces adding kanthari/geen chilly . Add this crushe gooseberry into a bowl. Add required salt and coconut oil. Mix well with a spoon. Nellikka kuthichathachathu is ready. Serve this with hot rice. Tips Bird’s eye chilli/Kanthari is more tasty though you could substitute with green chilly or dry red chilly. Don’t use othe oil,use coconut oil to enhance an authentic flavor. Adjust the quantity of chilly according to your taste.
