Mutta Porichathu/Kerala style omelette/mutta varuthathu

Some recipes will bring our wonderful childhood memories back.Hope everyone feel the same .This recipe is style of my mother and she used to prepare this mutta porichathu/omlette for my school lunch box.I mixed pepper powder while mixing egg with other ingredients.Also you can sprinkle pepper powder on the omlette before taking from the pan.


Egg2 Nos
Coconut,shredded 3 tablespoon
SaltAs required
Pepper powdera pinch
Kanthari/green chillyas per your tolerance,3 or 4
Gingera small piece,finely chopped
Shallots/Kunjulli10 Nos,chopped
Curry leavesa few,finely chopped
Turmeric powdera pinch
Oilto grease the pan

In a bowl,break the eggs and beat it well using a spoon.

Add chopped shallots,green chillies,curry leaves ,coconut to this.

Add pepper powder,required salt as well.Mix well everything cobined together.

Heat a pan and grease with oil.

Bring down the flame to low.Pour the egg mixuter and .

Close it with a lid and let it cook for one side.

Remove the lid and flip it to cook the other side as well.

Now the mutta porichathu is ready.

Turn off the flame now.Cut the omlette into desired shapes.

Serve hot with boiled rice,chammanthi etc.


You can sprinkle pepper powder instead of adding while mixing with egg.

Adjust the number of chilles as per your spice tolerance.

You can add 1 tablespoon of milk while mixing.This will enhance the taste and fluffiness.
